As part of the redevelopment of South Bank Quay in Middlesborough, McFadden Civils was appointed to deliver essential groundworks and utility infrastructure to support the new quay deck and its future operations.

The primary objective of the project was to install a new potable water main to service the quay, alongside critical infrastructure to enable firefighting capabilities on site. In addition, power and service ducting were installed to ensure the quay could be fully operational upon completion.

The project presented several challenges, including restricted access across a large and active site, tight delivery timelines, and the need to coordinate works alongside multiple contractors. Careful planning and phased execution were essential to ensure progress remained on schedule while maintaining site safety and efficiency.

What made this project particularly notable was the scale of the development and the opportunity to contribute to the long-term transformation of the site into a key operational asset.
