Executive Leadership

Desmond McFadden

Director

Des is the Founder and Managing Director and has been the driving force behind the company since its establishment in 1977 with the support of his father Francis.

With over 45 years’ experience in civil engineering, utilities, and plant operations, Des has overseen hundreds of projects ranging from major infrastructure works and deep drainage networks to large-scale industrial developments and public realm schemes.

Shane McFadden

Director

Shane is a Director and plays a key leadership role as Head of Earthworks and Construction in the ongoing growth and strategic direction of the business.

Having learned the trade from the ground up, Shane brings a wealth of practical experience in civil engineering, site operations, and project management, combined with a strong commitment to safety, quality, and client satisfaction.

Emmett McFadden

Director

Emmett is a Director and leads the delivery of utilities projects. Having worked his way through the ranks, he has developed a strong, practical understanding

of all aspects of the business. With a detailed grasp of each stage of project delivery — from initial planning and utilities installation through to reinstatement — Emmett ensures every job is completed to the company’s high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.

Rob Clive

Regional Manager, Scotland

Rob has over 20 years of experience delivering major transport, infrastructure, and civil engineering projects across the public and private sectors

throughout the UK. He oversees project planning, resourcing, stakeholder coordination, and on-site delivery, working closely with clients, engineers, and operational teams to ensure efficient and collaborative execution.

Declan Healy

Regional Manager, Ireland

Declan brings over 20 years of experience in the construction industry, delivering projects across a wide range of sectors and developing a strong

understanding of site operations, programme management, and quality control. He plays a pivotal role in driving projects forward by coordinating trades, managing resources, and maintaining strict health and safety standards to ensure works are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality.

Conor Campbell

HSE Advisor

Conor has 19 years of experience in the construction industry, progressing from Site Foreman to Site Manager and now serving as Company HSE Advisor.

He holds NEBOSH certifications in Managing Health and Safety and Managing the Environment and brings extensive knowledge of health, safety, and environmental management across a wide range of construction projects.

Murat Ozdogan

Senior Civil Engineer, ICE

Murat holds a degree in Civil Engineering and is ICE accredited, with over 23 years of experience in the civil construction sector.

Based in Scotland, he oversees projects and support service teams, ensuring delivery is safe, sustainable, and to a high standard. Throughout his career, Murat has played a key role in delivering major infrastructure and energy projects across diverse environments.

Gerard McCaffrey

Senior Quantity Surveyor, MICRS

Gerard is a qualified Quantity Surveyor and MICRS member with over 40 years of industry experience.

He is responsible for overseeing cost planning, budgeting, tender preparation, prequalification submissions, and contract administration, while maintaining financial control from initial pricing through to final account across major projects.

Declan O’Neill

Senior Civil Engineer

Declan holds a BSc (Hons) in Construction Engineering and Management and has over 12 years of industry experience…

…delivering complex infrastructure and construction projects across the UK and Ireland. His background includes pipelines, earthworks, water networks, and commercial and public buildings, supported by international experience gained in Canada within civil engineering and onshore oil and gas works.

Godfrey Mutazu

Senior Civil Engineer, ICE

Godfrey holds a BEng in Civil Engineering and an MSc in Project Management and is a member of the ICE,

with over 15 years of experience in the construction industry. He has a strong background in heavy civils, earthworks, drainage, and highways construction, with experience across major UK transport corridors including the M8, M74, and M23.

Megan Coyle

Quantity Surveyor

Megan is a Quantity Surveyor with a degree in Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management and experience supporting the commercial delivery of civil

engineering projects. She contributes across both pre- and post-contract activities, assisting with tenders, PQQ submissions, and pricing documentation, carrying out site visits to gather information for accurate and competitive submissions, and is currently working towards chartered accreditation.

Martin Currie

Project Engineer

Martin holds a bachelor’s degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering and manages on-site projects, overseeing daily operational and technical delivery.

He ensures works are carried out safely, efficiently, and to high quality standards, and has developed experience in contaminated land remediation.

Matthew Doherty

Project Engineer

Matthew holds a First Class Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering and works as a Project Engineer delivering upgrade, renewal, and

maintenance works across water and wastewater infrastructure projects throughout Ireland. He supports planning, design development, and on-site coordination to ensure improvements are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with client and regulatory requirements, drawing on his background in CAD and engineering design.

Office & Accounts Team

Paul McFadden

Office Manager

Paul has been a key member of the team since joining shortly after graduating from university in 2015 and plays a central role in the day-to-day operations and

overall direction of the business. He ensures departments operate efficiently and in alignment with company objectives, supporting effective decision-making and organisational performance. He leads financial planning and budgeting to support sustainable growth, oversees procurement and resource allocation, and ensures compliance with industry regulations and company policies.

Julie Kelly

Accounts Technician

Julie has over 20 years of financial management experience, primarily in the retail sector, and now applies her expertise within the civil engineering industry.

She brings a strong background in bookkeeping and financial administration, helping to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the company’s accounting processes.

Lesley Clarkson

Administrator

Lesley is based in our Bathgate office, where she supports the smooth running of daily operations across Scotland and ensures all interactions with colleagues, visitors, and suppliers

are handled in a professional and efficient manner. She manages reception duties and enquiries, coordinates travel and accommodation for team members working in or visiting Scotland, and ensures administrative tasks are completed accurately and efficiently.

Shannon Daly

Administrator

Shannon is an Administrator at McFadden Civils, playing a key role in supporting the smooth day-to-day operations of the business.

With a strong focus on organisation and attention to detail, she is responsible for managing documentation, coordinating communications, processing order numbers, and costing invoices to the correct jobs to ensure accurate financial tracking.

Working closely with colleagues, clients, and suppliers, she helps to maintain clear communication and effective processes across all areas of the company. Her proactive approach and commitment to reliability make her a valued part of the McFadden Civils team.
